Visitors to Crickhowell and the surrounding area during the
Spring Bank holiday (2011) weekend certainly embraced the
opportunity to choose from 31 venues exhibiting a wonderful range
of art and craft inspired by the Brecon Beacons and Black
Mountains. Supported by Brecon Beacons National Park Authority's
COLLABOR8 Project in partnership with Crickhowell Resource and
Information Centre (CRiC) and Crickhowell and Black Mountains
Tourism, visitors were welcomed warmly, while showcasing
exceptional artistry and craftsmanship. Crickhowell businesses
offered window space displaying art and craft which whet the
appetite of passersby and created a wonderfully festive atmosphere.
Emma Corfield-Walters, owner of Book-ish said, "We had a lot of
very enthusiastic people through the door and lots of lovely
comments with regards to the art trail. "
Nick Stewart, Sustainable Tourism Officer for BBNPA added: "The
Trail of Open Studios and Galleries is an excellent example of
businesses marketing themselves collaboratively to create an event
which makes tourism work for the local economy. The organisers in
Crickhowell have worked really hard to put this event together and
COLLABOR8 is pleased to be supporting them and the artists who have
taken part."
